Port Expanders are available for the expansion port and the user port. We are looking at the expansion port here. Commercially available expanders are not too expensive and often serve extremely well. Especially when planning on connecting Retro Replay Hardware or a Super Snapshot and wanting to combine it with a REU having more than one expansion port is quite useful.
